The top quark and the Higgs boson are the heaviest elementary particles of the SM of the fundamental interactions and the latest to be discovered. A precise knowledge of their properties is one of the main goals of the physics programme of the present and future colliders. In this course we will discuss Higgs and top-quark physics and in particular their role and interplay in the exploration of new physics scenarios, also via an effective field theory approach.
